As the daughter of a small business owner, I grew up working in my dad's newsagency and pharmacy at Yankalilla. As a complete word nerd, I also grew up wallowing in sword and sorcery novels - I actually once copied one out so I wouldn't have to keep borrowing it from the library. I got three degrees in Literature and Education, travelled Europe, and marauded around Adelaide scuba diving, jumping out of planes, and dancing the Flamenco. Then I settled down to teach high school English at the Mount Barker Waldorf School for 20 years. My web-coder husband and I had four kids and endlessly renovated our house. There were times when we could only access the bathroom via a ladder through a high window, but we are now looking at what we like to see: a house full of kids, books, architectural styles, and secret doors behind bookcases.
